Cafes and Spring
Cafes in Spring
Yes it is officially Spring here in New Zealand, though at 12 degrees and raining it doesn’t feel like it today or maybe it does? Spring brings with it wet and rainy days and a slow warming of the soil, just the right recipe for new life and beginnings.
As most Saturday mornings I am at my usual cafe drinking coffee listening to music and typing away on this old laptop, usually in Mousepad but recently i have challenged myself to start using Emacs again and yes a challenge it is. I have taken the stance that learning Emacs is good for my brain health, it forces me to create new neurons and make new connections. That is what I am telling myself anyway!
I am a continuous learner I believe this is important, so may people take the stance that once they leave school or University, that’s it, I’m all done with learning. This is a dangerous mindset to fall into, over time you will degrade, you fall into that very damaging and destructive mindset “Well I’ve always done it this way” This means you will never move forward, you will follow the endless path of repeating oneself, a dangerous path for humans to walk.
As always when writing these posts I tend to ramble off onto different tangents, this is how my brain works and has always worked. Bringing this back to the season of Spring, Spring is for new beginnings, Breathing life into older dormant ideas or creating new ones such as attempting Emacs again!
What ever you do, always look forward never back.
Stay Zen. R.
